Traitor, Marcel Ardans (Physical CD)

LIMITED RUN

Marcel Ardans, of Lessons with Marcel, is putting out a new alternative bluegrass album on October 8, 2021. The album titled Traitor will be available on all streaming services including Spotify and Apple Music. And limited CD copies will be available on the Lessons with Marcel website on October 8th, as well.

Traitor draws inspiration from the progressive sound that New Grass Revival brought to the scene in the 80’s. Like New Grass Revival, Marcel has no trouble abandoning bluegrass convention for the good of a song. Maddie Witler of Della Mae joins on mandolin, Hank Smith of Hank, Pattie and the Current joins on banjo, and Jack Devereux formerly of Town Mountain joins on fiddle. You can expect to hear a lot of drums on this record, genre hopping, and a little electric guitar.

The title Traitor is a little homage to Marcel’s understanding that he’s bending the traditional rules of the bluegrass genre. It’s an open admittance that he isn’t playing by the rules. But the hope is to bring something fresh to the table that can expand the audience of the genre as a whole.
