Improvising over a fiddle tune doesn’t mean abandoning the melody entirely. In this workshop, we’ll start with simple melodies and explore how rhythm, phrasing, ornamentation, and more can gradually transform them into new variations while keeping the original tune recognizable. We’ll push the same melody through increasingly adventurous versions to find out exactly how much we can change before we’ve gone too far.
