When looking up the author of Blue Ridge Cabin Home, I saw that Gladys Stacy was listed. This is a great way to tell that Lester Flatt of Flatt & Scruggs wrote a song. He used his wife’s maiden name for copyright purposes on all of the songs he wrote. Yeah, pretty weird. Anyway, that made this song an obvious choice for Tony Rice to bring to the first Bluegrass Album Band record. This break is full of classic Tony language. If you haven’t heard this break before, shame on you. Listen to the recording and download the free tab already!
(Advanced guitar tabs generally include a very ornamented version of the melody, chord markings above (with extra extensions and variations), kick-offs, tags, and improvisation that drifts far from the melody at hand. Expect to come across hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides and more in all kinds of combinations as well as syncopation, triplets and other rhythmic challenges. These tabs are excellent if you want to get inside the head of another improviser and explore the choices that an advanced flatpicker might consider.)
